Question: Are we helping our families run the spiritual race to win—or are we just coasting? Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:24, “Run in such a way as to get the prize.” Too many of us fill our calendars—and our kids’ calendars—with things that won’t matter a year from now, let alone in eternity. Sports, hobbies, vacations…none of these are wrong. But if they crowd out Christ, we’re training our kids to chase the wrong prize. Parents, the finish line is Christ Himself. Hebrews 12:1–2 reminds us to “throw off everything that hinders us or entangles us…fixing our eyes on Jesus.” What’s tripping us? What new habits should we pursue? Running hard after Christ is easier when we stop letting the world trip us.
